Kreh Mellick

About the Artist

Kreh Mellick studied illustration and drawing at the Maine College of Art before settling in Asheville, NC. Mellick combines narratives from childhood folk tales with her own imagined characters in richly patterned environments that are at once playful and eerie. Mellick’s color palette has become a signature feature in her work. For her red represents the changing and ethereal while black articulates the steadfast and alive. Mellick was the recipient of a CORE fellowship at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and was a resident at the Oregon School of Art and Craft. Mellick’s artwork has been featured in publications such as Bearings and Trachodon Magazine, along with album artwork for musician Angel Olson
