Untitled is a 2 plate, 2 color etching, signed with Londoño’s unique stamp. His obsession with drawing gives his work a sketchbook-like feel; the fluid script, written backward on the plate, is a testament to the artist’s mastery of line. Londoño draws not only from a classical tradition, but also from the visual vocabulary of maps and diagrams. Londoño is truly an artist of the moment- all of the imagery for Untitled was inspired by this trip to New York City and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

about the artist

Colombian artist José Antonio Suárez Londoño is a self-proclaimed drawing addict who sketches endlessly in notebooks or whatever scrap paper is accessible. Favoring a miniature scale, Londoño documents the physical world while simultaneously giving form to the magical and mischievous world inside his head. Londoño passionately depicts the moment at hand in intricate detail. His imagery commonly includes animals, vegetation, sculpture, and pattern, intermingled with calligraphic text.
