This course covers embossing techniques using raised patterns or designs on a plate. Artists can create basic printing plates using various materials such as paper board, scraps, acetate, wood, linoleum, copper and zinc plates, or any other soft, thin materials. Students will learn dry techniques by using hand tools such as agate burnishers, spoons, Slama press balls, etching burnishers, or by using the etching press. The course format combines regular demonstrations and group critics.
