Etching I will teach students all the basic techniques necessary to create and print copper etchings. Students will learn how to create an image on a copper plate, etch the plate in acid, ink and print the incised lines.
Students will learn drypoint, hard ground line etching, soft ground etching, aquatint, plate preparation, and how to print and register to create an edition. All materials are provided. Beginners are welcome, no prior printmaking experience necessary!
The workshop is offering students that wish to enroll in both Etching I and Etching II from our core curriculum a special 10% discount.
Etching II builds on the skills learned in Etching I. In this class students will learn spitbite, sugar lift, multi-plate registration, transferring images from plate to plate, color mixing, and hand wiping.
