Make your prints shine! In this class Ms. Golici will introduce students to the various results that can be achieved when foil is combined with digital and traditional printmaking techniques. Learn how to build up your images by using masks, templates and layers to develop complex images with foil. Students are encouraged to bring drawings and photographs to class to use as a starting point. You will be seduced by the visual possibilities offered by this amazing foil imaging technique. Knowledge of Photoshop useful but not required.
Ana Golici is an artist/lithographer formerly of the Podul printmaking workshop in Romania. Golici came to the USA in 1987 where she continued her study of lithography with Bob Blackburn at the Printmaking Workshop. The New York cultural atmosphere inspired Golici, heightening the pace of her creative process: she started to experiment with Xerox transfers, on stone, on paper, on anything. Later, the computer proved to be the most efficient and effective tool for developing her ideas. Ana creates her work using Photoshop, printing large format images on a variety of papers, and experimenting most of the time. Because of Golici’s traditional printmaking background, the digital prints she creates do not look like digital prints. She has participated in many printmaking biennials and triennials in Europe, USA, and Asia. Her work has been exhibited in New York Hall of Science, Hunter College Times Square Gallery, East-West Gallery in NY, and IPCNY. She has works in the Library of Congress Collection and in private collections in Europe and USA.
