In this class we will experiment with chine colle techniques using several non-traditional printing and gluing methods. These include printing on thin, translucent Japanese paper with multiple plates, repeats, ghosts, bleeds, folding and stacking. We will also learn how to hand-glue these prints to thicker printmaking paper using Japanese Nori rice paste (wet glue), Gudy (dry glue) and Fusion 4000 adhesive to create unique, layered pieces. It will be possible to integrate old prints, drawings or watercolors into these pieces, if you like. Image composition, deckle edge paper cutting and relevant plate wiping methods will be discussed.

Important Note: Previous printmaking experience and at least one finished plate isrequired.
