3D printing technology is becoming more and more affordable and the software involved is becoming more user friendly. We will be demonstrating a method of creating 3D printed relief plates using fused filament fabrication. We will discuss the software and the workflow from image to plate. Students will fabricate and print two plates from images that they bring to class. These relief plates will be printed in the traditional manner on an etching press. Students will create embossments, relief prints and intaglio prints from their plates. Students also pull a group embossment and a group print. Printing with background plates, chine colle and plate registration will also be covered.
