In this class students will experiment with chine colle techniques using several non-traditional printing and gluing methods.
These include printing on translucent Japanese paper with multiple plates, repeats, ghosts, bleeds, folding and stacking. We will also learn how to cut and hand glue these prints to thicker printmaking paper using Nori rice paste (wet) and Gudy sheet glue (dry) to create a unique, layered piece. Image composition, paper cutting and relevant plate wiping methods will be discussed. Previous printmaking experience and a few finished plates are required.
